Heya, Mythies! Welcome back to the end of another week!

Let me start off by saying next week I will not be doing a formal weekly update. I’ll be at MAGFest, and I won’t have my rendering PC with me, so if I post anything it’ll just be a quick blurb to let you know I’m still alive, if that. Don’t panic if you don’t see anything from me.

Despite the rush Morgana and I are going through to get our cosplays together, I actually managed to get some work done! One of the endings has been written and beta/proofread, and one of the achievements is fully done. I also did a bunch of commissions for supporters who have been super patient with me (which are publicly posted in the Discord, on Twitter, and on BlueSky).

Note: I’m not saying who Morgana and I are cosplaying as, because I don’t want anybody to identify us at MAGFest; I’m sure y’all understand.

I’m leaving the survey open, but I think most of the invested Mythies have already responded, so I’m going to go over the numbers as they stand after two weeks and about a hundred entries. I’ll check it again later on before I post the next survey, but I don’t think the numbers will skew much because they’re pretty consistent.

Werewolves: 6%

Even with me not putting werewolves on the list, 6% of your smartasses wrote it in. I should have expected no less.

I didn’t expect to see Fae ranking so high! That’s definitely going to influence some of the storytelling going forward.

So about half of you aren’t sick to death of any of the factions yet, which is good. Vampires being the in the lead of “see less” is a bit surprising, but I kinda chalk that up to “vampire fatigue” just from them being so prevalent in pop culture. Behind them is the Convocation, which makes sense since (out of necessity) the Convocation was the prominent faction featured in Book One.

I may run this survey again (or a variant of it) after the finale to see if moods change on the faction questions, but I wanted to see the interest levels based on what’s known so far.

Tara being in the lead isn’t a huge surprise here; she’s always been pretty popular. I’ve stated this before, but when I first started making Mythos I was worried people would find Tara annoying — I’m very happy to be proven wrong here. What is surprising, however, is B beating Mara. Even if it’s only by 1%, I didn’t think she’d even reach Mara’s levels of adoration!

Despite not having much actual screentime, Lisa is running in the middle of the pack, which is good for her.

So an overwhelming majority of people aren’t sick of any of the main cast yet, so that’s cool. That will make it a bit harder deciding who’s going to be the main cast of Book Two, though… I wanted to rotate some out and bring up some of the side characters (depending on who’s alive at the end of Book One).

A surprise here is Rain being the one the most people want less of. Granted, it’s only 12%, but I still would have thought Sophia would have been in the lead here. Sophia has her fans to be sure, but it seemed at first like she was the least popular. She came in last for “who would you like to see more”, but she didn’t come in first for “who would you like to see less”. I guess that means, overall, that Sophia is a “don’t care much one way or another” amongst the general audience.

And to no surprise at all, very few people want less Tara. Y’all better hope she’s not the murderer.

This was the part of the poll I was most eager to see the outcome for, and Becki being top of this list (other than the Waitress, who isn’t going anywhere for obvious reasons) really isn’t much of a surprise. She went basically how I thought she would; most people hated her at first, then as she appeared more in the story people came to like her more. Violet coming in second is also not a shock; people loved her so much for her two lines in Chapter Two that I actually gave her a bigger part in the story and an entire “Tales from Mythos” entry! Being as she’s not even a suspect, I feel fine to let you know that you’ve not seen the last of the eager apprentice!

No big surprises, here. All the girls rank higher than all the guys, and the highest-ranked guy is the prettyboy. Poor Lowman ranks so low that he’s below “None”, which amused me.

Comment highlights!

“Threesome with…”

Yeah, I know people want threesomes. With the tone and pacing of Book One, there wasn’t really any place for them. I’ve kinda planted seeds for some possible future threesomes, which I think some people picked up on, so just… be patient on that. Remember Mythos isn’t (and never will be) a sex-focused series, with sex possibly becoming even less frequent in future instalments.

“Cameos!”

This always depends on permission from other devs, naturally. If any devs want cameos in Book Two and beyond, please reach out! I’m usually open to them.

“A Morgana cameo?”

She’s already in the game! Maybe you need some coffee to sharpen your attention a bit… hehehe…

“More slice of life interactions.”

This is another thing that I want more of in the future, but the framing of Book One didn’t allow for it as much. There will be plenty of mysteries and such in the coming works, but they’ll be less “urgent” to allow the characters some room to breathe and interact normally.

“More romance/love instead of just sex.”

Yeah, this is what happens when an asexual adds sex to a story to get more people to look at it! I’m going to do my best to improve on this. Even non-sex stories (like the Dresden Files, which I draw inspiration from) have romantic subplots. I’ll try to improve on how I incorporate this aspect into the games moving forward.
