Hello, Mythies!

It’s 9/9, so I figure on this lovely Ninesday I should give you all a special treat. For long-time Mythies, you’ll be mostly familiar with “Ask the Dev” and “Ask the Cast” — But it’s going to be a little different this time around.

– Just what the heck is goin’ on, here?

As Mythos, Book One was being developed, I’d open myself up for questions between each chapter release. These “Ask the Dev” segments were basically much like your standard “Ask Me Anything”, but I wouldn’t be answering them in real time. Instead, there was a window for question submissions, and then I’d compile all the questions and answer them in an article.

Also, between chapters, I would have a totally different window for “Ask the Cast”, which would enable players to ask questions directly to the characters in Mythos. If you’ve read any of the character interviews I posted here, it’s much like an interactive version of those; a fourth-wall breaking look into the lives of the Mythos cast.

This time, it’s gonna be both. You can ask questions of me. You can ask questions of the characters. You can ask questions to Morgana (my real-life wife), if you really want to. She’s under no obligation to answer, but you can sure try.

– So what can I ask?

Quite literally anything. It doesn’t even have to be related to Mythos. You can ask me about my favourite dinosaur. You could ask Rain about skincare techniques. No question is really off-limits.

That being said, there’s no promise that every question will get answered. And even then, there’s no guarantee that the questions to the characters will be answered honestly. Plus, if the answers to any questions would spoil something in a future game, I will probably not answer directly. I’ve asked the cast to also not give away spoilers, but sometimes they let things slip if they’re asked just the right question and they’re in the right mood. You know how characters can be…

– Who in the cast can I ask?

Anybody that you know exists. That means it can be any character that you’ve seen on screen, in the Tales from Mythos, in a preview image, or even the cast of Book Two (the main cast of which has been announced to crowdfunders)!

You can even make the question’s target somewhat vague, like “to whoever Monica’s boss is” or “the bald guy at Sylvia’s gala”.

Just remember to specify who the question is for. There’s no limit on the number of questions you can ask! If you ask a question to “the whole cast”, only a few of them will respond — I’m not going to go down the line and have every single character answer what kind of bread they like.

– How do I ask questions?

There are so, so many ways you can ask things! The easiest way is probably just replying to this post with your questions, though there are other methods.

You can get to me on my Bluesky account, either through DM or @ me. I don’t actively look at the bird platform, though my account still exists there, so if you try to message me on there I will not see it.

You can send me a private message on one of my crowdfunding platforms! If you’re a subscriber there, that’s likely where you’re seeing this post.

You can email me! I mean, it’s a strange way to do it, and I have no idea if you’ll get stuck in the spam filter or not, but you can try. I’m “nine at nineofswords dot studio”. I’m sure you can figure out how to format that as an actual email address.

You can post your question in the #ask-mythos-anything channel on the Nine of Swords Discord. I tend to take your questions and copy/paste them into that channel for my own organisation anyway.

– When can I ask questions?

Questions are open right now! The cut-off to submit your questions is going to be Sunday, September 21st, at 10:00 PM Eastern time. I don’t know what time that is in your time zone, because I don’t know where you live, so like… use Google or something. I’m not your mother.

The post with all the answers will go up about a week later, depending on how many questions I get.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Keep the legends alive!
– Nine
