Author’s Note: Hey, Mythies! Here’s the first of our Book Two previews that take the form of character interviews. It’s important to note that these interviews will contain spoilers for Book One, so if you haven’t played that one yet, you may wanna skip them until you do!
Jessica Lee: Good morning, Baltimore, and welcome back. We’re here in our brand new studio to talk about the upcoming sequel to Mythos, Book One. Mythos, Book Two: Legendary Lore is a brand new entry in the Mythos series, and the demo is going to be releasing… er… soon.
As before, I will be interviewing the cast of Mythos to get the scoop on what we can expect out of this new installment in the Mythos franchise. Appropriately enough, our first interview is with the main character themself: Vic Mercury! Welcome to the show, Vic.
Vic Mercury: Hey, yeah, thanks for having me, Jessie.
JL: (Taking a deep breath) That’s… that’s Jessica, please.
VM: Right, whatever.
JL: So you’re the protagonist of Book Two –
VM: That’s some fantastic journalism, there, Jessie.
JL: (Grimacing) – but are you connected in any way to Ky Nelson from Book One?
VM: Nope. Well, not at the start, I guess.
JL: Ah, so we will be seeing Ky from Book One.
VM: Are you trying to get Nine to kill me? I’m not going to give you any spoilers! But you do know that Ky’s cousin Jodi is going to be one of the main characters in this one, so like… that kinda makes us connected, in a way.
JL: Right, right, we’ll be talking to her soon. So what’s going on in this game? Are we picking up right where we left off at the end of Book One?
VM: No, which is weird. It takes place some years later, but it doesn’t say how much longer after Book One. No exact year is given, and I think that’s how Nine is going to do things from now on.
JL: Is it so we can’t be certain of what’s going on, do you think?
VM: I think it’s because Nine doesn’t wanna make math mistakes with character birthdays again.
JL: Um, okay… so is this another murder mystery, then?
VM: Kinda. People do die at the beginning.
JL: People? Multiple?
VM: Oh, yeah, tons. Blood and guts everywhere. I get a chainsaw and just start hacking people up. It’s pretty great.
JL: …
VM: … yeah, no, I’m not killing anybody. I don’t think. What’s actually happening is that there’s definitely someone doing some killing, but it’s more a series of attacks that we need to figure out the source of. It’s not just one murder, but an ongoing threat. So I’m basically doing a cooler thing than that [censored] Ky was doing.
JL: An active threat. That definitely seems a somewhat different situation than the single murder in Book One. And are you a Beacon like Ky was?
VM: A Beacon? I dunno.
JL: Alright, I know not to dig too far. You say this is a few years after Book One. How has the world changed?
VM: After the big [censored]storm at the end of Book One, it was kinda impossible for people to ignore that magic exists, so a lot of monsters are just living openly.
JL: And the public just accepts this willingly?
VM: For some reason, yeah. Most of the people are just like “whatever” when they learn that there’s [censored] vampires and [censored].
JL: (Nervous laughter) Let’s remember we’re on network TV here…
VM: Fine, fine. Anyway, there’s some people that are making a fuss about monsters being real, but they’re kinda looked at like… on the fringe, you know? Conspiracy theorist nutjobs.
JL: But you don’t seem too fond of supernaturals, yourself.
VM: I mean… yeah, I think it sucks that some werewolf could rip my throat out or whatever, but I’m not gonna go screaming about it on a podcast.
JL: Well, we know that werewolves don’t exist… right?
VM: How the [censored] should I know? I didn’t think demons existed until one got stabbed to death with a pair of icicles downtown.
JL: Fair enough. Looking at the rest of the revealed cast so far, it seems like all of the main characters are supernaturals?
VM: Sure, yeah. Just like in Book One, I guess. Melanie and Violet are both mages. Jodi’s… I don’t know how to describe what Jodi is. And Hattie is a celestial.
JL: A celestial? I don’t think Nine’s revealed that yet!
VM: Well, then I guess people reading this are in for a treat. But yeah, a lot of people that were paying attention and reading those side stories have already figured out who Hattie is.
JL: Interesting. Anyway, I’m up against a hard break, so it looks like that’s all we have time for today. Do you have anything else to say to the audience at home?
VM: Yeah, make sure to tell your friends about Book One, so they can be ready for Book Two. It’s cheap as hell, and Nine’s gotta pay for those big vet bills somehow!
