Hey, lookie! Another character reveal! And like… other… stuff.

Game Update

I have nothing else to say about Book One right now, obviously; the game is finished, Steam has approved it, and we have a release date. So let’s talk about another one of the Book Two main cast/love interest: Melanie Rubicante!

If you read Violet Stark and the Uptight Magic Nerds, or remember the Lore of Mythos article about the Convocation, you have already seen a bit of Melanie. Melanie is one of the heads of the Convocation, leading the Pillar of Renewal – in short, the “healers”. One would assume this group to be full of kind-hearted, warm, and compassionate folks who just want everyone to be healthy and happy. Those who make this assumption have clearly never played a healer in an MMORPG.

Melanie is continually stressed out and more than a little bitter over having to deal with the careless mages that continually suffer the same injuries. Accidents do happen, but when certain patterns arise in those accidents, it can quickly make a caregiver jaded. Melanie wouldn’t shirk her duties and deny treatment to those in need… but she’s not at all against pointing out stupidity while giving aid.

Whereas Hattie was a stark contrast in opposites to Vic, Melanie has a more similar attitude. Unfortunately, Vic strongly dislikes the supernatural, and the Convocation has become something of a publicly known entity. With both of these personalities being somewhat brash, how will they get along?

Personal Update

This week had its ups and downs. I didn’t get to see my mother for Mother’s Day (she was away for the weekend), so we’re seeing her this Wednesday for dinner and gifts.

On Monday, we took our kitty to the vet for his routine shots and checkup. The vet noted his blood sugar was actually a bit low, so we may have to monitor his diabetes at home. The last time we tried to leave him at the vet for glucose monitoring, he was so angry that they called us within two hours to come get him. He’s a very sweet kitty… when he’s near us. If we leave him in a strange place without our presence, he apparently turns into a hellcat. Also, between the vet fee, the bloodwork, and the booster shots, the visit cost almost $500, on top of the insulin we already have to buy for him. This cat is fucking expensive!

Last night, Morgi and I went to a birthday party for one of her coworkers, but it was someone I’d only met briefly one time, and nobody else in attendance was anybody I knew. I was feeling my normal social anxiety, which only became worse when it seemed like they were doing nothing but drinking games. Thankfully, after a short while, it seemed that they really did know how to moderate their alcohol intake, they were pretty chill people, and… there were two sweet cats and one adorable chinchilla. By the end of the night, Morgi and I were singing “What Is This Feeling?” (from Wicked) on the karaoke machine.

This was also the first time I ever got to pet a chinchilla. So soft!!! I kinda want one, now.

That’s all I got for this week! Next week will have a reveal about that purple silhouette in the banner image. Some of you have already come up with some… interesting theories on who she is and what she’s holding. So far, I’m pretty sure all of them have been wrong.

Keep the legends alive!
