Boring week of game stuff, exciting week of personal stuff (in a good way). Here we go!

Game Update

I mean… it’s still renders. Nothing but renders. I’m doing a ton of them, though! Like every spare moment I have I’m doing renders.

This Daz Priemer thing kinda has me concerned. For those who aren’t “in the know”, Daz (the software I use for the game images) is free software. I didn’t know this, but recently they announced a subscription service where you could use an upgraded version of the software called “Daz Premier“.  I did a lot of research into this as I heard about it, and right not it seems like they took a bunch of popular plugins off the store (where you could buy it once and just have it) and incorporated it into the subscription-based software. The functionality these plugins add aren’t things I used anyway (I’m probably the only dev that doesn’t use a render queue), but it worries me that eventually they’ll start taking basic features out of the free Daz and forcing them into Premier.

Maybe this is just me being antsy after seeing other subscription-based software fucking over their customers (not saying it’s Adobe, but… I’m not not saying it’s Adobe, either).

Regardless, as of right now this change isn’t affecting me. If things get too bad, however, I worry that I’ll have to figure out how to do this shit in Blender. I’m barely smart enough to work in Daz, so moving to Blender could be the death of Mythos as a visual novel.

Personal Update

Yes, almost every evening during the week was spent doing renders, but that didn’t mean I was totally idle. Morgi and I watched a lot of WWE (neither of us could have predicted how into this we would be), Drag Race Global All-Stars (which has honestly been kinda boring, but we’re watching it anyway), and Agatha All Along (which has been excellent).

For my birthday a few months ago, my parents gave me a gift card for Fogo de Chao. We decided to use it on Saturday, and then while we were downtown we just did whatever else struck us. We fed some birds in the harbour, and spotted one poor seagull that, somehow, had a nail sticking out of their neck! The poor thing didn’t seem to be impaired or in any pain, but it was both mystifying and distressing. How did a nail get there? How was it still there?

Then we went to the National Aquarium; again, totally on a whim. We got to see a lot of cute sharks, a couple of sloths, colourful poisonous frogs, and I got to pet a jellyfish! All-in-all it was a nice little spontaneous date day.

Sunday, as always, was my “domestic day”, so I spent my time doing laundry, dishes, tending to the gecko, and other general seneschal stuff.

Hey Nine, Whatcha Playin’?

I’m currently taking a break from Potionomics; when the October 22nd patch drops, I’m going to have to restart my game, because it adds too much cool stuff (and I didn’t get that far into the game for it to be much trouble). The thing I’m most excited for is the multiple romance option, because there’s too many cute characters that I wanna see their dating dialogues. I tried out Cassette Beasts, but it didn’t really grab my interest as much as I thought it would, despite it being extremely similar to a Pokemon game. Maybe it’s because I’ve been alotting myself so little time for daily gaming that I wasn’t able to fully immerse myself in it.

I may try My Time At Sandrock, this week; which only makes sense, since I backed My Time At Evershine on Kickstarter

Keep the legends alive!
