Alright, I actually got some cool news about Mythos, both Book One and Book Two! Also some life stuff. So let’s start with what’s left for Book One.

Game Updates

It seems that the issues with Book One failing Steam review over and over and over again is… kinda my fault. Since it takes so long between me submitting the build and them responding to it, I forgot a step. You’re supposed to specify which build you’re submitting for review. I wasn’t doing that, so the “default” build that they were reviewing was the initial one sent. Meaning that every time I uploaded a new build, they weren’t looking at it, because I didn’t change the “default” to the newest version. Finally, one of the Steam staff noticed that. With that, I hope that I won’t have to wait for approval for too much longer.

That being said, I now have a release date for Mythos, Book One on Steam: June 17th, 2025!

You may be wondering why it’s so far out. First of all, I wanna be absolutely sure that this review process is done by then. With me now realizing what I was doing wrong, I feel a lot more confident that it’s going to work. Not only that, but the demo of Book One is going to be part of the “Steam Next Fest” – essentially a big showcase of demo games. Only games with demos that haven’t released the full versions can be part of the Next Fest, and I think this a good advertising chance for me to get some excitement drummed up for the game.

Still going on the Book One news, I’m considering doing one last Ask the Cast/Ask the Dev for Book One. This one will be chock-full of spoilers, and you can ask questions to the characters (and me) that can be answered far more clearly because there’s nothing left in Book One to spoil. You can ask characters about things they asked before, and the character can now say what they meant. Of course, if you ask about upcoming story points, you’ll get elusive answers again.

I said there’s Book Two news, didn’t I? Well, yes. I’ve finalised the cast of Mythos, Book Two: Legendary Lore. That’s them in the banner. Sure, only one of them is visible, but let’s talk about her. You saw her last week, and those of you who asked already know who she is.

The main character of Book Two is going to be a character named Vic. If you pick the female route (as shown above) her default name will be “Victoria”. The male version, of course, will be “Victor”. I still haven’t figured out what I want him to look like, yet, but… I’ll get there. Eventually.

When Book Two opens, Vic is going to be struggling. They live in a crappy apartment in east Baltimore with a roommate they rarely see. They’re barely getting by with their food service job, with some very scant supplemental income writing for local music websites under the name “Vic Mercury” (that name may sound familiar to people who paid very close attention). Vic is also not really happy about this whole “supernatural creatures exist” thing that was revealed a few years ago, feeling pretty uncomfortable sharing the world with “monsters”. Perhaps something will happen to change their mind…

As you can also see in the banner, the main cast will have four more characters. These will be the love interests, so they’re all female. I’ve cut the number of love interests down for this game so I can actually focus on individual characters better, and also have a good story behind it all. You’ll still be seeing a good number of the Book One characters (some of them even kinda frequently), but they won’t be romanceable, so they’re not on the banner. But there may be some characters amongst those silhouettes that you already know!

Over the new few weeks, I’ll be revealing one character at a time until you see the whole group!

Personal Life Updates

So I got a new teacup last week that’s super cute. I posted about it on my Bluesky account, but forgot to mention it, here. Yes, I’m allergic to “real tea”, but I’ve been drinking herbals at night to help me relax before bed. It’s worked well so far. You should follow me on Bluesky to get all of these inane life updates in real time.

On Wednesday, I went to visit my mother for the first time since she got out of the hospital, and she was… normal. She wasn’t drunk, she wasn’t showing weakness or anything unusual. It was like I had my mother back! Hopefully this will last. We went to a little food truck festival, and I had a way-too-big burger. Then came a big surprise as we got back to her house, as my stepfather had saved something for me from amongst my late grandfather’s belongings: A 1970s Fender Starcaster. I know it’s not a big top-of-the-line guitar, but it was my grandfather’s favourite, and I haven’t had any guitars since we lost them (and a lot of other things) in the fire many years ago. I’ve all but forgotten how to play, but it’s time I pick it back up, again!

On Thursday, we saw Thunderbolts*. It’s the best MCU movie I’ve seen in a long while, so I’m so thrilled with it. That’s all I’m gonna say about that (other than Florence Pugh being my first choice to play Tara if a Mythos movie is ever made).

This weekend was hectic for me, because my parents are on a trip to Texas, so I have to keep an eye on their dogs. This means going back and forth from my place to theirs, and their new dog is a hellion. Not long after I left their house yesterday, my mother frantically texts me that she saw the new dog tearing apart their new couch. Indeed, one of the cushions on their new sofa is now devoid of padding. Not my problem, though! Morgana and I always make sure we go places nearby or take our cat with us, since he has special needs. It’s part of being a responsible pet owner!

Wow, this update is long. I’m going to stop here. See you next week with another character preview!

Keep the legends alive, and May the Fourth be with you!
