A trying week, but at least things are smooth sailing with Mythos!
Game Update
With this final character reveal, the gang’s all here. The main cast of Book Two is fully revealed with the announcement that the fourth major character (and love interest) is none other than Violet Stark!
For those who somehow missed her in Book One (or, even more surprisingly, forgot about her), Violet Stark (aka “the Eager Apprentice”) is a mage of the Convocation with some rather… unorthodox approaches to magic. Despite her not showing any actual magical abilities during Book One (and even during her own side story, “Violet Stark and the Uptight Magic Nerds”), the Convocation seems to suffer her presence for some reason.
Book Two is going to fully reveal just what it is Violet does, and what makes her so special to the Convocation’s understanding of magic as a whole.
So with these previews, you may be getting a better picture of just what the tone of Book Two is going to be:
- Vic Mercury – The main character, a supernatural-hating ruffian and small-time local music journalist
- Melanie Rubicante – The continually exasperated head of the Convocation’s healers
- Hattie Sheppard – A high-class lady of mysterious origins
- Jodi Nelson – The quick-witted and tricksy cousin to Book One’s main character
- Violet Stark – The quirky, somewhat ditzy mage who doesn’t seem to grasp magical principles
That looks like at least two mages in the main cast! It’s possible all four of the love interests are mages, right?
Well, not to spoil things, but no; it’s not an all-mage cast. But the Convocation plays a much more pivotal role in this story than it did in the last. However, the Convocation isn’t the actual focus of the story. What does that mean? You’ll find out! Jeez, get off my back! Book One isn’t even fully released, yet!
Speaking of which, we are now in the countdown to Book One’s full release on Steam! Just 17 days! Or 16, depending on how you count. The release date is June 17th, so count it however you want.
Personal Update
Things are a little hairy with the home life, but it’s possibly getting better. We’re still kinda reeling from our cat’s $500 vet bill, and today we had to do a “glucose curve” on him by ourselves (since he’s such a brat when we just leave him at the vet for 12 hours). This just consists of us getting a glucose reading on him every 3 hours, but he was a very good boy for every one of them (so far), and the readings don’t look too unusual. The special reader for animals was $75 and we also had to get his insulin refilled for another $70… this cat is expensive!
My worries about money were compounded when Annapolis Pride, which was supposed to happen yesterday, was “postponed” until this Autumn due to bad weather (which never actually happened). Morgana had made a lot of stickers, decals, and art prints to sell, as well as paid for a banner and business cards for her booth… and now we can’t sell them. So, at least until this fall, that’s money we just can’t make back, at a time we really can’t afford it.
I had a checkup with my doctor on Friday, and she noted that my stress level seems kinda high (surprising, I know), so she’s putting me on some additional medication for that. Morgana is also on a new medication which she’s adjusting to, but forced her to leave work early twice this week because it gave her some serious brainfog. Thankfully, that seems to have passed, because today she was feeling just fine.
This week’s update was a real roller coaster, eh? Sorry about that! Maybe next week will be nothing but happy news!
Keep the legends alive!
