Why is it all the exciting shit happens to me after I write and post my weekly updates?

Hello, Mythies! Welcome to another week of “Nine gets shit done while shit happens to Nine!” This week I knocked out writing another ending, and actually started working on some of the scene renders – mostly this was just me setting up the scenes so I can hit the renders rapidly when I get to that phase of development.

Being as I’m not giving the details on which scenes are done, let’s talk about how awful things went after I posted last week’s update!

Remember how I said two updates ago that I may not be diabetic anymore? Well, turns out that was wishful thinking on the part of my doctor and I. Yes, I’ve changed my diet, increased my exercise, and lost some weight… but my A1C and glucose numbers have actually gone up. I asked how that’s possible, and my doctor’s response was basically “you’re getting old.” So now I’m on Mounjaro, which is a needle I gotta stab myself once a week. Yaaaaay.

But that’s not the end of the medical troubles! On Saturday morning, Morgana’s eye began hurting. Eventually, it got so excruciating that we took her to urgent care. The urgent care doctor did some tests (the freaky day-glo eye thing), and let us know that she looked to be developing keratits, which can be extremely dangerous if not treated very quickly. We had to get to an eye doctor. Unfortunately, being as it was Saturday, the only eye doctors in the area were at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Emergency Room.

We arrived at the hospital at 4 PM on Saturday, and they were extremely crowded. One nurse said it was the worst she’d seen in years, with some people having already been waiting thirty hours. Thankfully, since we were there for the eye doctors, we were in a separate queue from the general health stuff.

Our wait was seventeen hours.

So at 9 AM Sunday morning, we finally got to leave Johns Hopkins. While Morgana’s issue wasn’t keratitis, it was still the start of an infection that could have caused some big problems if we didn’t get it seen to promptly. I still wish it hadn’t wrecked our entire weekend. By the time we got home, I decided to stay awake until Sunday night so that I could sleep properly for work on Monday morning. Morgana informs me that I slept extremely deeply on Sunday night, not moving until my alarm went off.

On a brighter note, I had my mid-year review with my boss this week, and he said that I’m “leading the region” in performance amongst District Operations Managers. Yay!

This weekend I’m going to a Twin Temple concert, assuming no awful medical emergencies crop up again.

Keep the Legends Alive!
