Gonna be another kinda quick update, this week! The scene I’m currently rendering (shown above) was giving me some real issues, as well as this month’s Patreon/SubscribeStar wallpapers. In both cases, I let the renders go for about an hour and they didn’t even hit 1% complete. I went through and hid everything that wasn’t shown in the shot and they got done in my normal render time (about 4 minutes for the above shot, 7 for the wallpaper — because it’s way bigger). I have no idea what was causing the big slowdown.

In addition, I’ve really learned a ton about After Effects!!! I hate to announce stuff like this ahead of time, because I’m superstitious and believe that saying it means something awful will happen, but I’ll risk it here — I may have some examples of the animations I can do in After Effects by next week’s update! When I finish the full animated “Danganronpa-style” intro, I’ll actually post that on my YouTube ahead of the release itself so nobody will have to wait to see it (and because I’ll be excited to show it off). I’m fully confident that it’s something I can do! And as you probably know, confidence isn’t something I’m very good at.

Personal life time!

Another reason for the shortness of update is because I have to get going to a wedding this afternoon (blugh) on top of me having lost three days last week to that Father’s Day trip (double blugh).

While my stepfather was thrilled to see us, it was really a miserable weekend. We went out on a boat, which not only sucked for me (I’m terrified of boats), but it sucked because it was super windy. The water was choppy as shit, which made it an uncomfortable time… especially for me, who was both anxious and motion sick. Then later, it became kinda obvious that everyone that was on the boat was only there because they thought someone else wanted to do it.

At least I got to see a very cute fluffy dog on the beach.

Then after the boat ride, my parents didn’t want to do anything. They really just sit and watch TV. It baffles me how someone can literally just spend an entire evening flipping channels. My stepfather kept offering the remote, saying “what do you guys normally watch at home?” And… we don’t. Unless it’s something streaming we’ve been waiting for (Obi-Wan, Ms Marvel, and Umbrella Academy right now), we just don’t watch things. I enjoy either working on Mythos or playing FFXIV, Morgana is usually doing stuff on her Second Life RP sim, and we sometimes play a game together (Wingspan is really good).

My stepfather says it’s “old people stuff,” but I’m no youngster by any means (and he’s only 15 years older than me). I just get bored if I’m not doing something interactive.

This ended up being a rant, I have to start getting ready for this wedding… which will probably be the subject of a rant next week. It’s going to be at a yacht club. Yay. I bet the most seasoning any of the food will have will be mayonnaise.

Keep the Legends (and my sanity) alive!
