Nyoom!!! I finished the writing portion of three scenes this week! Well… technically two because I had to do major re-writes to one of the scenes when I realized I did the same infodump twice with two different characters. After finishing the video last week it got me more driven to do the non-visual parts again. And it’s been like… a whole month without some horrible crisis hitting me or my family! Yay!
Wow, that’s how low the bar is, now? A month without something awful is a reason to celebrate?
Seriously, it’s not just me either. It seems like every dev I personally know (and many more outside of my “circle”) has had a whole buffet of shit being served to them in 2022. Yeah, the Mythos update is taking way longer than I’d like (I had secretly aimed to have Chapter Three out by Valentine’s Day of this year — this is why I don’t give release estimates), but god damn has this year been hard. I appreciate y’all bearing with me! I don’t plan on charging for the game until it’s totally done and put on Steam.
So let’s talk about Steam, even though the finale is a little ways off. I’m not totally sure how I’m going to swing it yet, but when I do the final chapter I’m going to put Mythos: Book One up on Steam as two versions — an adult version (the one you’ve been seeing) and a non-porny version (which is basically the story as how I originally envisioned it). People who have supported me through the development will get Steam keys. I don’t know how Steam keys work yet, but I will find some way to make sure those who stood with me will get the finished game one way or another.
I’m back to wondering if I’ll keep doing animations for sex scenes… at this point, I know people have to be getting impatient, and animating the humping will only exacerbate that because I am really bad at making animations. Not so much as quality goes (though I’m never satisfied with my own work), but my perfectionism means that I’m probably far more meticulous than I have to be, and animations are already a pretty meticulous process. Plus, some of my favourite games don’t do full naughty animations, and they’re still quite sexy.
That’s about all I got this week! I plan to get a lot more writing done next week, finishing up all that stuff so I can do the easy parts last (the rendering, the remaining music, and the coding).
