Remember when I used to do these things on Fridays? I’m glad I started doing them just generally “sometime between Friday and Sunday” because it’s actually taken a ton of stress off me! I’d often scramble to get these posted on Fridays while exhausted from the work week. Anyway…
Game Update
The scene I most recently completed took a bit of time to tweak, because it’s really the first time in the game I show overt displays of magical power. Up until this point, it’s been mostly mental stuff, with the most visible indicators being a screen flash or some glowing eyes, maybe a little audio “ding!”. In this most recent set of images, actual spells are getting flung around, which is a new thing for me. Thankfully, there’s some lovely magical assets out there (which have been sitting almost unused in my Daz library for a looooong time).
I’ve been really motivated to get more and more renders done than usual. Despite coming home exhausted yesterday (more on why below), I still made sure to put in a few hours of rendering work because I want to see how this game comes together. I’m going to be one of those rare devs that complete their game, but I also want to have it done as soon as possible. I don’t want anybody getting impatient with me — or worse, forgetting about the game entirely!
Personal Update
Not gonna do a “Hey Nine, Whatcha Playin’?” this week, because it’s still My Time at Portia (though that Potionomics update finally dropped and it’s tempting).
We saw Venom: The Last Dance on Thursday. It was okay. We were entertained, and there are definitely some lingering references we’re going to be continually making for some time. Not exactly groundbreaking or hugely surprising, but it was fun enough that we don’t regret seeing it. I guess a 6 or 7 out of 10 for me.
Yesterday we went to the World Oddities Expo, as we do every year when it comes to Baltimore (this was the thing that had me coming home exhausted). It had lots of creepy stuff, which is right up Morgana’s alley. and she came home with a bag of teeth and a preserved dead lanternfly. I came home with a cute shirt that has a nudibranch pattern on it, as well as a mystery book! There was a booth selling wrapped packages that had an unnamed book inside, a pen, an eye mask (that felt really nice), two magnetic bookmarks, a highlighter, and a little journal so you can take notes on the book as you read it (if you wanted to). This one caught my attention for sure:
The book clues were absolutely my jam, so I hope I like what I got!
Anyway, we also picked up some other cute or creepy odds and ends, like a little baby mimic, some pins and stickers, and a cool framed print of the Lovers tarot card with a pair of preserved butterflies.
That’s my wrap-up for this week! Next week, if I freaking remember I’m going to post another future Mythos character teaser. I also have my colonoscopy on Thursday, and I have no idea what to expect as far as recovery goes. I hope it doesn’t interfere with my progress!
Keep the legends alive!
– Nine
Colonoscopy recovery? Just let the wind out! I’m sure that Morgana won’t mind.
