Guh, I was hoping after last week’s upsetting update I’d have some better stuff to talk about, but… heh… hey, at least Mythos is still going strong!
Game Update
I actually finished up the work I wanted to do! I wanted to get a little bit ahead of what I had planned, but two things gave me little setbacks. One of those things are in the personal section below, but the other can be attributed to “Nine’s Eyesight Flucates.”
It may be a thing with diabetes, which can apparently make my vision wonky at different times of day, but I had to redo a whole slate of renders because the depth of field wasn’t adjusted correctly and I didn’t notice. Admittedly, the result was funny – B’s face was in focus, but she was blurry from the neck down, so she kinda looked like a weirdly floating head. Still, I had to redo all that.
Anyway, work on the game is going fine. BUT…
Personal Update
So this week wasn’t all bad. Last night we went to the Fairy Scary Ball, which was fun. This group did an event in the Spring, which was supposed to be the Unseelie Court passing leadership to the Seelie Court as the seasons changed. Last night’s event was the Unseelie rising to power as we head into wintertime. Morgi and I love dressing in fancy “Dark Fae” attire, and we had quite a few friends there; including someone I hadn’t seen in about 18 years when I used to LARP.
Now let’s talk about how Nine’s personal life has apparently slipped into perpetual shadows!
Before the ball last night, we attended a memorial service for a friend. She was actually younger than Morgana, and we still don’t have the full details on how she passed (other than “brain necrosis”, without us ever hearing what may have caused it). It was a sad affair, obviously. Going from that to the ball was quite an emotional whiplash!
But that wasn’t the only sudden tragedy that befell people in our periphery! I may have mentioned that we rent out our spare bedroom to a friend. We don’t see him super much because his commute to work is long and he spends his weekends with is girlfriend. His girlfriend contacted us on Sunday night to tell us not to worry, but he wouldn’t be home like usual. So that was fine…
Turns out the reason he didn’t come home on Sunday was because he had a fucking stroke. He was in really bad shape immediately after the stroke, but when we got to see him he seemed much better. He remembered who we are and our names, he can walk on his own, but there’s still some cognitive loss and he’s blind on his right side. They’re trying to get him into a rehab facility, but it’s hard to find one with an open bed since he needs to basically live there for a bit.
This also means he likely won’t be able to pay his portion of the rent/bills this month. Granted, that’s not the biggest concern when it comes to his health and all, but it is something else for me to worry about.
So that’s my update for this week. I really, really hope next week will bring better days. I need a break.
Keep the legends alive!
