Let me point out that the header image this week is not indicative of an upcoming character in Mythos — that’s Jizzabelle from the (sadly) now-discontinued game “Harem Highlander”. With her game gone, the poor, homeless Jizzabelle asks if she can crash at the home of another Fae.
This week, I finally posted the story “The Ascent of Hatshepsut”! I know when I first mentioned it weeks ago, I said the story would have nothing to do with any of the current Mythos characters. However after several revisions, I decided to drop that disclaimer. I’m not saying there are any characters from Mythos in the story… just that there might be. It’s certainly not at all obvious who one of them may be. Nope.
I’ve been working on the commissions and wallpapers this week, but I’ve also delved headlong into learning After Effects again. I was on the verge of dropping it, because I thought taking the time to learn the new program just for the animated intro sequence wouldn’t be worth it. However, I found a new class on Udemy about it, where the instructor actually doesn’t go far too fast and tells you how to do things without just rattling off keyboard shortcuts (which may or may not work with the version of the program you’re on). As such, I’ve now picked up the software pretty quickly.
More importantly, however — I can use After Effects for more than just the intro. One thing I really enjoyed doing when I started making Mythos was creating scene transitions. I didn’t realize that I could do these in After Effects, and it’d actually be faster than fiddling around with the Ren’Py code to do the same stuff. With how small webm files are, it wouldn’t even make the game take up more disk space. Possibly even less. I have no idea how the wizardry behind these files goes.
Now on to my personal life. I was supposed to see They Might Be Giants in Baltimore on Sunday, but sadly John Flansburgh got into a car accident and the show was delayed. It was heartbreaking, but it actually cleared my schedule for an emergency that popped up. One of my friends ended up in the hospital, and his wife was (rightfully) freaking out, so all day Sunday was spent with her and Morgana, trying to take her mind off the badness of the situation.
This weekend I sadly won’t be able to do any work. It’s Father’s Day here in the US, and Morgana and I are surprising my stepfather by spending the weekend at the beach with my parents. They’d been wanting us to come out there for a long time, and even though it bores the heeeeeeell out of me, I’m gonna do it. Being as his mother recently passed (my grandmother), I figured he could use the cheering up.
Since we’re leaving for the beach right after I get off work, I’m typing this all up on my laptop rather than the “Mythos PC”, so I’ll update the checklist next week when I have all my shit together.
Keep the legends alive!
