Hello, Mythies!
As February comes to a close, my life has finally taken on a semblance of its old normalcy again!
The Beta Reader or Readers have gone over “Born in a Barn,” so that one is in the can and complete. I’m already mostly done with “Law and Mordor” before sending that off to be scrutinized as well.
As I was going over my outline for Chapter Four I realized there was a… pretty glaring issue with how Ky was going to get from the situation in one scene to the next, so I basically had to restructure the scenes so they would flow better. As such, I’ve shuffled about the order of the scenes in the list to be roughly where they’re going to appear chronologically as you play through them. Unlike Chapter Three, Chapter Four is going back to being more linear. You can miss scenes if you make certain choices, but you’re not going to have anything appear at a different time than someone else. It was a fun experiment for the last chapter, but it was just added coding without any discernible benefit to the player other than an illusion of choice. There are plenty of other choices that will come back to bite you in the ass, no need for me to overcomplicate matters.
Chapter Four also contains the first in-game appearance of Jodi, which I’m very excited about! Mythies may recognize Jodi as Ky’s cousin and coworker; you can see the nameplate on her desk in the office scenes, and she played a minor role in the story “Nelson’s Sick Day”. Deep Lore Mythis may also know that Jodi is the original main character of the novel that would become Mythos! She’s definitely a relative of Ky’s, but she has a distinctly different personality that made me feel like I had to make a whole new character when I converted the novel into a game. Hopefully, you all will like her, because she’s planned to be pretty crucial to the story in future Mythos things!
Finally, I’ve removed the Chapter Five progress items from the tracker. It just made things look like I had a lot more to do before the next release than I actually did (and it was kinda bumming me out).
