I’m so close to having everything ready… but now it’s down to me waiting on others. Allow me to explain!
Game Update
I worked my lil’ tail off to get two major things done this week, and both were completed!
First order of business was me getting the demo done. You’d think that’d be easy as just “chop off the game after a certain point.” But I had to do that in a way to make sure I didn’t break any code by accident, and also remember to delete the correct images to make sure the file size was minimal without unintentionally cutting out scenes that would still be in the demo. My first run of the demo actually had me leaving in the script files for the finale of the game, which would have been a massive goof for anybody who knows how to poke around in the code to read things ahead of time. Then there was a brief round of testing and I uploaded the demo to Steam.
The problem is that Steam wanted me to make a new game page for the demo, for some reason. It was just like I was making a whole new game page, with Steam asking me for graphical assets and a synopsis and such. I just want a freaking button that says “Download Demo” on the game page. Whatever. So I had to do that whole page bit, then submit that for approval. But Steam wouldn’t review the demo game itself until the page review was done.
So basically I make the page, then wait. Then after they finally approved the page, I could upload the code. And now I’m waiting again.
But I also finished another major milestone; the final beta build of Mythos, Book One. For all intents and purposes, it’s the complete game. All the achievements rendered and coded in, the credits, the easter eggs… it’s everything. I want the Testies to give it one more round to make sure it’s as release-ready as it can be, but honestly… I currently have nothing Mythos-related to be working on at the moment. For the first time since I started!
Thus we come to what I’m doing while waiting for Steam and the Testies…
Personal Update
It’s tough to wanna do anything “brainy” right now. There’s a ton of things I wanna be doing and getting into now that I’m currently not working on Mythos, but I can’t focus on doing anything that would be like… mentally challenging. Especially learning a new game right now (though I swear, I will actually load up Warhammer Total War and learn how to play it. The Tomb Kings look too cool).
As such, I’ve been mostly faffing about with games that don’t take too much braining to do. Infinity Nikki, Genshin Impact, and grinding out the Moogle tomestones in FFXIV.
Yes, there’s like a million AVNs (like by so many of my dev friends) that I want to get around to catching up on, but I don’t wanna like… read. Which is a shame, because there’s a growing stack of novels at my bedside that I swear I’ll read. I’m only halfway through “Bookshops and Bonedust”, and I love it, but it was so hard to focus on reading when I had other things on my mind.
I’ve only got two things I really “watch” right now: RuPaul’s Drag Race and WWE (Raw, SmackDown, and the PLEs). This season of Drag Race has been pretty good, I think. Snatch Game was a little bit of a letdown, but at least they did it in the classic format and not the “Snatch Game of Love”. As for WWE… the Elimination Chamber confirmed a few things I knew were coming, but it also managed to surprise the hell out of me at a few points! Since it only aired yesterday, I don’t wanna give out any spoilers, but it was tough getting to sleep last night after that!
With any luck, my update next week should have some really exciting stuff in it, but right now it’s literally a waiting game. So until then…
Keep the legends alive!
