Progress hit a lil’ speed bump, but it’s still progressin’!
Game Update
I was really hoping that the Steam demo would be up by now, but what I didn’t realize is that, despite being a “subpage” of the main game, you need to make and submit a whole new page for the demo, which needs to go through approval. Cutting down the game to demo length took a little longer than expected, and then I had to send the demo to the testies (because my dumb ass could have accidentally deleted something that was more important than I realized). After the testing was done, I thought I could just upload the demo for review and be done with it, but nope. Whole new page, with assets and everything. Yes, most of it was just using the same assets as the main game (why would I make a different logo for a demo?!), but it was still time consuming. Plus they haven’t finished reviewing the demo page, which means they haven’t even started looking at the demo build.
It’s fine. I’m fine.
Anyway, as for the main game, that hit a minor hiccup as I started to tinker around with the credit scroll code. I want to have actual rolling credits at the end, which in and of itself isn’t a huge thing… but Ren’Py doesn’t really seem to be set up for that kind of thing. With some help, we dissected how it was done in another game, and then I had to make images to fit what I’m going for. Hopefully it looks good once it’s all done, it just takes a lot of experimentation.
Personal Update
Only one thing of note happened in my life this week outside of Mythos, and that was attending a little local convention. It wasn’t anything like MAGFest’s four days of round-the-clock insanity; this con was only one day, and only 8 hours long. It was nice! We supported some indie artists and authors (and I may have gotten a good recommendation of a book publisher), and a friend of ours won the cosplay contest.
Most importantly, we met Veronica Taylor, the original voice of Ash Ketchum from Pokemon. Pokemon is a huge part of Morgana’s life, so she ended up crying on Veronica, who is very sweet and even dried Morgana’s tears. Then she signed Morgana’s official Pokemon TCG Judge shirt.
Then we went to a German restaurant and ate… probably way too much sausage and schnitzel. But it was really good, and surprisingly cheap, so it’s probably going to be one of our new go-to spots when we go out to eat. That’s something we sorely needed, since most of the time when we go out it’s ramen, Korean BBQ, or hot pot, and we need to switch things up!
So that’s all for this week. I did my taxes this morning and I’m kinda depressed, but hopefully the demo page will be up this week, and (as I feel like I’ve been saying for 87 years) I can get the final beta build of the full game to the testies.
Keep the legends alive!
