From finishing Christmas shopping to having only five scenes left to render (most of which are simple or small), this is a happy holiday cheery update! Onward!
Game Update
The game development is barreling along at a good pace, and I’m so thankful it seems to be going well. I worried that updating my Ren’Py broke some major things in my code, but as I’m playing through the game it seems to be stable. It somehow only messed up character definitions for Monica and… myself (for when I do the author’s forward). I’m not sure how that could have happened, but after fixing that, the errors disappeared.
I’m trying not to be too optimistic about things and give an estimated time frame, but “soon” is becoming… sooner. The big determining factor will be how the beta testing goes! Nothing in the code of the final chapter is anything I haven’t dealt with before, so I don’t foresee any issues, but it’s also been a loooooong time since my last beta test.
Personal Update
I mentioned before that Morgana and I have basically cut out all of our family except for my parents, so Christmas shopping was incredibly easy this year. We knocked it out in about three hours at the mall on Thursday. Totally finished, and under budget. It’s a good feeling (especially since we’re so financially hurt this year).
An unexpected surprise came yesterday in that our roommate (the one who suffered a stroke) came by to visit yesterday! He still can’t drive (his girlfriend was with him), and his walking is somewhat slow, but he is moving around on his own, getting out of the house, and picked up his mail. I’m not sure when or if he’ll be back to living here fully, but it was a promising encounter.
Last night we went to the Christmas Village in Baltimore. It’s a very cute event and I’m glad we started making this an annual thing. The bratwurst they have there tastes just like what I remember from when I was an exchange student in Germany (way back in the mid-90s), and I got a new pair of alpaca fur gloves (purple, of course), as well as this adorable bee plushie.

– Nine
Glad things seem to be going so smoothly. I went to the Baltimore Christmas Village site and it seems real cool. I live in East Baltimore for a year back in 1979-80 and it was VERY different than it is now. I was the director of a church community center in Canton and everyone was crazy (literally) about the basketball league. After a year, I couldn’t take it any more and moved back to CT. Glad things are better there now. Best of luck in the future.
